Role Overview – Product Security Intern

As a Product Security Intern at ShopBack, you will join the security team and contribute directly to protecting millions of users’ data and transactions. You will work on real-world tasks such as source code scanning, vulnerability assessments, and incident monitoring — skills that are in extremely high demand in the cybersecurity industry. This internship is structured as a six-month program with mentorship from experienced security engineers, giving you a strong launchpad for a career in information security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source Code Security Scanning: Use industry-standard SAST (Static Application Security Testing) tools to scan application source code and identify potential vulnerabilities before they reach production.
  • Security Incident Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor security dashboards and logs for anomalous activity, analyze potential incidents, and escalate issues to senior engineers with proper documentation.
  • Vulnerability Assessment and Tracking: Perform routine vulnerability scans on web applications and internal systems, track identified weaknesses across their lifecycle, and follow up on remediation progress.
  • Website Vulnerability Scanning: Conduct scheduled security scans of ShopBack’s web properties using approved tools, document findings, and contribute to triage and risk-rating exercises.
  • Security Documentation: Create and revise technical documents such as security runbooks, process guides, and incident reports to keep internal knowledge bases accurate and up to date.
  • Automation Scripting: Write scripts to automate repetitive security tasks such as log parsing, report generation, or data aggregation, improving the efficiency of the security operations workflow.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers to share security findings and support the adoption of secure coding practices across the engineering organization.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from B.E/B.Tech/BCA/B.Sc in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or a related information discipline.
  • Batch Year: 2024, 2025, or 2026 graduating batch.
  • Academic Performance: No specific cutoff mentioned; strong academic record preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of web or app development, scripting/automation, server or network management, and network security concepts. Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals is a strong advantage.
  • Availability: Candidates must be available for a six-month full-time internship. Remote working within India may be available depending on the candidate’s city of residence.
