You will work alongside experienced software engineers on product development, coding, testing, and system design – gaining hands-on exposure to enterprise-grade Java development, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms used at a Fortune 500 scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Contribution: Assist with various software development projects, contributing to hands-on coding, design, testing, and delivery tasks. You will gain direct exposure to different aspects of IBM’s cloud and enterprise software business.
  • Team Support: Work alongside experienced engineers and product managers, supporting them in daily development tasks, sprint planning, and code reviews to learn best practices in enterprise software development.
  • Learning & Development: Participate in IBM’s internal learning programs, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities to expand your technical skills in Java, cloud, microservices, and modern DevOps practices.
  • API & Application Development: Develop end-user applications, RESTful or gRPC-based API services, and reusable libraries following IBM’s engineering standards and coding style guidelines.
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Support the team in maintaining continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, unit testing, and code quality practices using tools like Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Problem Solving: Take ownership of assigned technical problems, investigating issues, proposing solutions, and delivering results within sprint timelines with minimum supervision.

Required Technical Skills

  • Core Java: Hands-on knowledge of Core Java with understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), Design Patterns, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
  • API Development: Ability to develop both end-user applications and API services/libraries in Java or related languages.
  • Product Development: Practical experience or academic project exposure in product development environments.
  • Version Control & OS: Familiarity with Git for source control and basic Linux command-line usage.
  • Microservices (Good to Have): Working knowledge of microservices architecture using gRPC/REST, Docker, Kubernetes, IDL formats (Protobuf, Thrift), NoSQL databases, and Big Data technologies is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience across all phases of application development – Design, Coding, CI/CD pipeline setup, and Unit Testing.
  • Knowledge of xUnit testing frameworks; comfort working with mocks, stubs, and fakes.
  • Experience following rigid coding style guidelines including appropriate code documentation.
  • Exposure to concurrent programming patterns – multi-thread, multi-process, or multi-worker architectures.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.E/B.Tech degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field from a recognized university.
  • Batch Year: 2025 or 2026 graduating batch (students actively enrolled in their degree program).
