Role Overview – Apprentice Software Engineer (AgentOps)

As an AgentOps Engineering Apprentice, you will work closely with experienced engineers, product leaders, and AI practitioners to design, build, test, and operate enterprise-grade AI agents and agentic applications. The role is learning-focused and hands-on — apprentices contribute to real production initiatives while developing strong foundations in software engineering best practices, system reliability, and responsible AI. The AgentOps team builds, operates, and governs AI agents as first-class production systems across Pearson.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build Agentic Applications: Assist in building and enhancing agentic applications and intelligent automations that support real business workflows.
  • Develop AI Agents: Work with senior engineers to develop reusable AI agents using approved frameworks and the AgentOps orchestration platform.
  • Solution Design: Participate in solution design discussions, intake reviews, and engineering reviews to understand how enterprise AI is designed and governed.
  • Observability & Testing: Support implementation of observability, logging, testing, and evaluation mechanisms for agent quality and reliability.
  • Documentation: Contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of agentic solutions.
  • Responsible AI: Learn and adhere to AI policy, security, privacy, and compliance guardrails while working on production systems.
  • Continuous Learning: Build skills aligned with AgentOps engineering standards through structured mentorship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; final-year students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Batch Year: 2025 and 2026 graduates with less than one year of experience.
  • Academic Performance: A consistent academic record with strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Python and any agentic framework, plus exposure to AI/ML concepts and large language models.
  • Additional Requirement: Must meet requirements under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 and be registered on the NATS portal, and be legally eligible to work in India.

Selection Process

The Pearson Apprentice Hiring 2026 follows a structured selection process:

  • Round 1 – Online Application & Screening: Apply through the Pearson careers portal; profiles are screened for eligibility.
  • Round 2 – Technical Interview: Rounds on Python, data structures and algorithms, software engineering concepts, and AI/ML basics.
  • Round 3 – HR Discussion: A final conversation on your interests, learning goals, and fit with the AgentOps team.
