About Snowflake

Snowflake is a cloud-native data platform company that has fundamentally transformed the way organisations store, process, and share data at scale. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, USA, Snowflake’s Data Cloud platform enables businesses to consolidate data, build data-driven applications, and share data securely — all across multiple public clouds including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. With a market-leading position in cloud data warehousing, Snowflake serves thousands of enterprise customers globally and has built a large and fast-growing engineering presence in India, particularly in Pune. Snowflake is consistently ranked among the best places to work in the technology industry, offering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence that makes it an outstanding employer for early-career data professionals.

Role Overview – Data Engineer Intern

As a Data Engineer Intern at Snowflake Pune, you will be part of a strategic, high-impact team responsible for building and maintaining the internal data pipelines and dashboards that power Snowflake’s own business analytics. Working directly within Snowflake’s internal Data Cloud environment, you will design reliable ingestion frameworks, build Apache Airflow-based pipelines, and ensure the integrity and security of data flowing across engineering, finance, security, and compliance teams. This role offers direct exposure to production-grade data infrastructure at one of the world’s fastest-growing cloud technology companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Apache Airflow or custom Python scripts, ensuring reliable and timely delivery of data across internal Snowflake systems.
  • Data Integrity Management: Monitor, manage, and continuously improve the data integrity and reliability of data services, identifying and resolving issues that affect data quality or pipeline uptime.
  • Ingestion Framework Engineering: Build scalable and reliable ingestion frameworks to onboard new data sources into Snowflake’s internal data warehouse, following best practices for ELT-based pipeline architecture.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster close collaboration with engineering, security, compliance, IT, and business teams to ensure all data assets are secure, auditable, and meet governance standards.
  • REST API Integration: Develop and maintain integrations that consume REST APIs using Python, enabling seamless data ingestion from external and internal services into the Snowflake environment.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to training distributed team members on data pipeline best practices, tools, and the internal Snowflake data ecosystem.
  • Cloud Data Engineering: Leverage hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to ensure pipelines are scalable, cost-efficient, and production-ready.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: B.Tech, B.E., or M.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related Engineering discipline from a recognised university or institute.
  • Batch Year: Candidates from the 2024, 2025, or 2026 graduating batch are eligible.
  • Technical Skills (Required): Excellent understanding of database modelling and SQL; experience writing Python-based jobs; ability to consume REST APIs using Python; working knowledge of Apache Airflow.
  • Cloud Experience: At least basic experience working on one or more public cloud platforms — AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Preferred Qualification: M.Tech or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; experience with ETL/ELT-based data pipeline tools is a strong advantage.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with distributed cross-functional teams.

Selection Process

The Snowflake Off Campus Drive 2026 follows a rigorous yet candidate-friendly selection process focused on technical depth and problem-solving ability:

  • Round 1 – Online Application & Resume Screening: Applications are reviewed for eligibility, technical skills (Python, SQL, Airflow), and relevant academic background. Candidates with cloud or ETL project experience are prioritised.
  • Round 2 – Technical Interview: A focused technical interview covering SQL query writing, Python scripting, data pipeline design, database modelling, and hands-on cloud experience. Candidates may be asked to walk through a data engineering mini-project or solve a take-home problem.
  • Round 3 – Hiring Manager / Final Interview: A discussion with the hiring manager to assess technical depth, collaboration style, and fit with Snowflake’s engineering culture. Communication skills and the ability to explain complex data concepts clearly are evaluated.

Salary & Benefits

Snowflake has not disclosed a specific stipend figure for this internship; however, as one of the highest-valued cloud technology companies globally, Snowflake is well known for offering highly competitive compensation even at the intern level, along with health and wellness benefits, mentorship from senior data engineers, access to Snowflake’s proprietary data platform for hands-on learning, flexible work culture, and meaningful project ownership from Day 1.
