Role Overview – Software Engineer I – Tech Accelerate Graduate Program
The Tech Accelerate Graduate Program is a unique 12-month structured onboarding experience for freshers interested in software engineering. As a Software Engineer I in this program, you’ll move through rotations in different technology domains—Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, SRE (Site Reliability Engineering), and DevOps—gaining hands-on experience in each. Unlike traditional entry-level roles, this program allows you to contribute to real products and services from day one while learning best practices in coding standards, testing methodologies, and agile development. You’ll be mentored by senior engineers, participate in code reviews, and gradually take on more complex assignments as you develop expertise. This role is perfect for graduates who are passionate about software development and want to explore different specializations before deciding their career path.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Feature Development: Write clean, well-documented code following best practices and coding standards. You’ll implement features, fix bugs, and contribute to the codebase using technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript, and other languages relevant to each rotation. Your work will go through rigorous code review processes ensuring quality and consistency.
- Test-Driven Development: Design and write comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests before and alongside implementing features. You’ll learn and apply TDD principles to ensure reliability and maintainability of code, reducing technical debt and improving system stability.
- Specification and Requirement Analysis: Work closely with product managers and architects to understand detailed specifications for system components assigned to you. You’ll break down complex requirements, ask clarifying questions, and ensure mutual understanding before implementation begins.
- Multi-Environment Development: Operate confidently across different development environments including local development setups, staging environments, and production-like testing platforms. You’ll understand deployment pipelines, environment-specific configurations, and troubleshooting approaches for each layer.
- Bug Fixes and Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve defects reported from QA, support teams, and users. You’ll apply root cause analysis techniques, implement fixes, and sometimes refactor code to improve performance and maintainability of existing systems.
- Technical Skill Advancement Through Rotations: Participate in rotations across Big Data (handling large-scale data processing), AI/ML (building intelligent systems), SRE (ensuring system reliability), and DevOps (infrastructure automation). Each rotation provides 3-4 months of focused learning and contribution.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and team members across departments. You’ll participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and technical presentations, developing both technical and soft skills essential for career growth.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical disciplines from a recognized university.
- Batch Year: 2025 or 2026 batch graduates (graduation must occur on or before July 2026)
- Academic Performance: Consistent academic performance is valued. While specific CGPA thresholds vary, strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming are essential.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, data structures, and algorithms. Familiarity with at least one programming language (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript) is required. Knowledge of relational databases (SQL), version control (Git), and basic software development lifecycle concepts is expected.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication both in technical and non-technical contexts. Ability to document code and design decisions, and willingness to learn from code reviews and mentorship.
Selection Process
The RELX Off Campus Drive 2026 employs a multi-stage selection process designed to identify candidates with strong problem-solving abilities, coding fundamentals, and the right mindset for the graduate program:
- Round 1 – Coding Assessment: A timed online coding test where you’ll solve algorithmic problems using a language of your choice. This evaluates your understanding of data structures, algorithms, problem-solving approach, and code quality. Typically 2-3 problems of varying difficulty.
- Round 2 – Technical Interview: An in-depth technical discussion with senior engineers covering your coding assessment solutions, past projects, understanding of software development concepts (SDLC, testing, design patterns), and problem-solving approach. Expect follow-up questions and discussions about trade-offs in your solutions.
- Round 3 – Behavioral and Manager Fit Interview: A conversation with the hiring manager or team lead assessing your learning mindset, collaboration abilities, career goals, and cultural fit with RELX’s values. They’ll discuss how you handle challenges, your interest in different technology domains, and your expectations from the graduate program.
Salary & Benefits
RELX provides competitive compensation for this graduate program role, along with comprehensive benefits including health and wellness insurance, professional development allowances for certifications and training, access to learning platforms and technical libraries, mentorship from experienced engineers across all rotations, and a clear pathway to permanent employment based on performance. Additionally, the structured rotation program provides invaluable exposure to diverse technology domains, accelerating your career development.
