Infosys Interview Experience 2024 — Scenario Questions and What Sets It Apart

Join Our Offical Freshershunt Telegram Channel

Infosys interview experience notes stand out for one pattern more than any other: they ask questions that have no textbook answer. Scenario-based questions — sometimes bizarre ones — show up in Infosys interviews more than anywhere else. After reviewing 38+ experiences from Infosys SP, DSE, and Systems Engineer roles, here’s what you’re actually walking into.

Infosys interview experience — how it’s structured

Infosys typically runs separate TR (Technical Round) and HR rounds for the Systems Engineer and SP roles. The DSE (Digital Specialist Engineer) role can go deeper technically. Duration varies widely — some students reported 25-minute interviews, others went over 45 minutes, particularly when project discussions ran long or the interviewer got interested in a specific topic you mentioned.

The overall feel of Infosys interviews is conversational. They’re not trying to trip you up with syntax questions. Multiple students noted their interview felt more like a discussion than a test. That said, you still need technical substance — the difference is in how they ask, not whether they care about the answers.

Technical round — projects first, always

Project explanation is the anchor. Every experience in this set started with the project or returned to it within the first few questions. What’s different from TCS or Wipro is the depth — Infosys tends to ask about your specific role, what decisions you made personally, what challenges you faced, and what you’d change. The STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) works well here because that’s essentially how they probe.

OOPs. All four pillars — but specifically with real-world examples. Encapsulation and abstraction got more attention in Infosys than inheritance comparatively. Be ready to distinguish between abstraction (hiding implementation) and encapsulation (hiding data).

SDLC was a distinctive Infosys ask — it came up across multiple TR rounds. Know the phases and have a rough idea of Agile vs Waterfall.

SQL and DBMS. Standard questions: joins, GROUP BY, primary key vs foreign key, normalization.

The scenario questions — Infosys’s signature

This is the thing that consistently surprised students. Some examples from real experiences:

“There is a river, in the river there is a grassland, it gets fired, and there is a crocodile in the river — what do you do?” This is a logic and creativity question. There’s no right answer. They want to hear you think out loud, handle pressure, and not freeze.

“If your team doesn’t meet a deadline, what will you say to the client?” — Tests professional maturity.

“What would you do if you were not assigned any project in the company?” — Tests whether you’re self-motivated.

“What do you know about Infosys?”

This question appeared in more Infosys experiences than in any other company. Know: what Infosys actually does (IT services, consulting, BPO, products like Finacle), key recent news, the CEO (Salil Parekh since 2018), and something specific about their values.

HR round

Infosys HR follows a standard pattern: relocation, night shifts, family background, 5-year vision, and leadership examples. One question that came up across multiple experiences: “Do you have any other offers?” Being honest here is fine. Behavioral questions tend to have a leadership-team angle: “Tell me about a time you led a group,” “How do you handle a team member who isn’t contributing?”
