Role Overview – Site Reliability Engineer I

As a Site Reliability Engineer I at CME Group in Bangalore, you will join an elite engineering team responsible for maintaining the availability, performance, and reliability of CME Group’s mission-critical financial market infrastructure. In this role, you will apply systems engineering principles, Linux administration skills, Python and shell scripting, and automation frameworks to ensure that global trading systems run with zero tolerance for downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Systems Engineering & Operations: Monitor, maintain, and improve the reliability of CME Group’s production systems — ensuring high availability, low latency, and scalability for global financial markets.
• Linux Administration: Manage and troubleshoot Linux-based production systems, including process management, file systems, networking, and system performance tuning.
• Automation & Tooling: Develop and maintain automation scripts and internal tooling using Python and shell scripting to reduce manual operational tasks and improve system reliability.
• Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Participate in incident response workflows — quickly triaging production alerts, isolating root causes, and leading or contributing to post-incident reviews and preventive measures.
• Monitoring & Observability: Set up and maintain monitoring dashboards, alerting rules, and observability pipelines using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or equivalent enterprise monitoring platforms.
• Capacity Planning & Performance: Assist senior SRE engineers with capacity planning exercises, load testing, and performance analysis to ensure CME Group’s systems can handle peak trading volumes.
• Cross-team Collaboration: Work closely with software engineering, network, and security teams to implement reliability improvements, deploy new services safely, and maintain operational excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: B.E / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics & Communication Engineering.
• Batch Year: 2023, 2024, or 2025 batch graduates with 0–2 years of experience are eligible to apply.
